Szefowie firm Disney oraz ESPN z powodu nacisków wpływowych polityków zdecydowali o przełożeniu a raczej odwołaniu gali UFC 249 która miała się odbyć w przyszły weekend na terenie rezerwatu Indian w Kalifornii.
Telewizja ESPN która posiada na wyłączność prawa do transmisji wszystkich gal UFC w USA postanowiła wykorzystać swoje relacje z organizacją i poprosić o przełożenie zbliżającego się wielkimi krokami wydarzenia. Według informacji Washington Times`a, wartość praw do transmisji gali UFC na platformie ESPN w 2020 roku wyniesie 750 milionów dolarów.
