Aljo about to go on the greatest victory lap on social media of all time. Vindication for a guy who took a lot of crap over the past 14 months.

The Human Backpack at work, outstanding ground control by Aljo #UFC273
— Henry Cejudo (@HenryCejudo) April 10, 2022
Such a close fight. Aljo earned it, it boiled down to that close first round which I'm sure will be dissected.
The second and third rounds were not 10-8s though imo. Yan was landing shots with his back taken. Aljo had dominant position but like 15 seconds of decent GNP. https://t.co/wCcAKIUvFW

Whether you agree with the decision or not, Sterling was able to get Yan's back in two consecutive rounds and neutralize him. We've never seen anyone do that to Yan.
The first round was SO close, I personally had it for Yan, but you have to give Sterling his due. He earned this.

Aljo is a LEGIT CHAMPION. Now everyone should wrap that around their mind.#UFC273

I tweeted this yesterday and people acted like anything other than Yan worship was blasphemy. I'll take the L for thinking Yan was going to win, too, but it's comical how much disregard there is floating out there for Sterling's abilities. https://t.co/dSZYoD2f7e

Fucking judges. Again. Anyone really think Sterling won first round??? Makes more sense to give him a 10-8 then give him first round imo which ends in a draw
— Matt Brown (@IamTheImmortal) April 10, 2022
If anyone deserves to have a "told ya so" world tour, it's Aljamain Sterling. He just proved one metric ton of shit-talkers incorrect. #UFC273
